Travel arrangements

Please arrange your own transport to and from Plumpton College, specifying the AgriFood Centre entrance for drop-off and pick-up:

  • The address for coaches is AgriFood Centre, Wales Farm Lane, Lewes, BN7 3AE. Please note, this is not the main entrance to the college.

  • The nearest train stations are Plumpton, Lewes, and Wivelsfield.

  • Please arrive for a prompt 10.00 A.M. start. Your visit includes lunch and you’ll be ready to leave by 2.00 P.M.

Accompanying adults

Please arrange for four adults to join the visit on the day, including at least two qualified first aiders. This requirement ensures that all students have immediate access to a first aider, even while working in two separate groups.

Allergy information and photo permissions

Please complete the two forms below:

It’s important that we receive both forms as soon as possible after your visit has been confirmed.

If your students have already received classroom sessions this year, please note that there is additional information we need for your Chef on the Farm visit. We appreciate your assistance in following the links above to submit your students’ details again.

Risk assessment and safety resources

Please share the following documents with all adults planning and taking part in your visit:

An optional resource is our Knife Skills video, to refresh your students on the bridge and claw methods for cutting ingredients safely.

What to bring on the day of your visit

For each participating student, please bring:

  • a healthy snack (to be eaten on arrival at the college)

  • a bottle of water

  • outdoor clothing (for the farm tour) excluding wellies, which will be provided by the college

  • comfortable, closed-toe shoes (for the kitchen) e.g., no sandals

  • a change of socks.

For each accompanying adult:

  • We recommend that all adults arrive prepared to support both activities, i.e., the outdoor farm tours and the cooking sessions inside the kitchen. Therefore, please bring the same items as above. (All wellies are provided.)

Other essentials:

  • Please bring at least one first aid kit, ideally two (i.e., one for each first aider).

  • We also appreciate hard copies of contact details for your key adults (e.g., visit lead, first aiders).
