How can I study at the Royal Academy of Culinary Arts?

The Royal Academy of Culinary Arts is a membership organisation for chefs, pastry chefs and restaurant managers. We do not currently have a physical school to study hospitality. However, if you are aged 16 to 19 we do offer a three-year vocational apprenticeship programme for Chefs at Bournemouth and Poole College, Westminster Kingsway College and University College Birmingham and City of Liverpool College.

To find out more visit our Education page.

I fit the age bracket; how do I apply for the apprenticeship?

You must call the colleges directly and ask them if you wish to be a Royal Academy of Culinary Arts Apprentice Chef. Click on the link to take you through to the college’s webpage for more information.

Our members consist of a who’s who of the UK hospitality industry. Ranging from chefs, pastry chefs and restaurant managers, as well as leading suppliers, and friends of the Royal Academy, you can read more about our membership categories on our membership page.

In order to become an Academician, you must be nominated by two current Academicians. You can find out more about the application process here:

Can anyone be a member?

If you have an interest in the hospitality industry and would like to support the work that we are doing, you may become a Friend of The Royal Academy of Culinary Arts. Friends membership is open to anyone who isn’t a chef, pastry chef or restaurant manager.

Your events and dinners look fun, how can I attend?

Our events and gala dinners are open to our members and selected guests from the hospitality industry only. However, if you are interested in supporting the Royal Academy of Culinary Arts but aren’t working within the industry you can join as a Friend of The Royal Academy of Culinary Arts. This allows you access to a variety of exclusive hospitality-based events a year or be a supporter of our charity Adopt A School which, gains you access to their Fundraiser gala dinners as well.
